Noah was a man who did what was right and obeyed God. He had 3 sons- Shem, Ham, and Japheth. However, everyone else was disobeying God. God saw that the people He had created were wicked and violent. God told Noah he was going to put an end to the wickedness by sending a flood to cover the Earth. But Noah and his family would be saved. Noah was given instructions to build a big ark out of wood. It was to be 135 m long, 23 m wide and 14 m high. At once, Noah and his sons started to build the huge box-shaped boat. It had 3 decks, a roof with a hole, and a door on the side. The wicked people around Noah wondered what he and his sons were doing. They thought he was crazy! When the ark was ready, God told Noah the flood would come in 7 days` time. Noah, his 3 sons, and their wives were told to take their things aboard. They also had food for the animals. Seven pairs of every kind of every ‘clean’ animal, male and female, were put into the ark. Two of every ‘unclean’ animal (lizards, mice, pigs, etc.) were also taken on board. God then closed the door of the ark and the rain began to fall. For 40 days it rained heavily; the flood waters got higher and higher. As the waters rose, the ark began to float. The waters continued to rise until they covered the mountains by more than 20 feet. Every living thing that moved on land died. The birds, the livestock and the wild animals died. All of the creatures that fill the earth also died. And so did every human being. The water flooded the earth for 150 days, but those on board the ark were kept safe. As the water went down, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. After 40 days, Noah sent out a raven, but it found nowhere to land. Then he sent out a dove, but it flew around looking for land. The dove later returned to the ark. Seven days later, Noah sent out the dove again and it came back with a freshly picked olive leaf. So Noah knew the water was going down! A week later, Noah sent out the dove a 3rd time, but it did not return. The dove had found land! Noah removed the roof of the ark and saw some dry land! Two months later, the land was dry enough for Noah, his family and the animals to leave the ark. Noah built an altar to the Lord and made sacrifices to God. God was pleased with the offering and promised never to destroy all living creatures again. God put a rainbow in the sky and told Noah, “This rainbow is the sign of my promise never to flood the whole earth again.” 發言日期:2021/07/24 |

The Bible doesn`t give us the total number of years it took Noah to build the Ark, but most scholars agree that it was somewhere between 70-120 years! 發言日期:2021/07/24 |
