《成為神使用的器皿》
但1:8但以理卻立志不以王的膳和王所飲的酒玷污自己，所以求太監長容他不玷污自己。
Daniel 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the kings meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

But Daniel purposed - There may be several weighty reasons assigned why Daniel did this. Because many of those meats provided for the kings table, were forbidden by the Jewish law. Daniel knew these delicates would too much gratify the flesh. He did not dare to eat and drink things consecrated to idols. He was sensible, how unsuitable delicate fare would be to the afflicted state of Gods people. Therefore he was herein a rare pattern of avoiding all the occasions of evil.
但以理的意圖：他這麼做的原因可能有多個。重要的是因為許多提供給國王餐桌上的肉是猶太律法所禁止的。他知道這些精緻鮮美的食物會非常滿足肉體的慾望。他不敢吃和喝已經拜過偶像的東西。他很明智，知道這樣安逸享樂的生活，對遭受苦難的上帝子民來說是多麼不合適。 因此，在這裡他是避免犯罪的榜樣。
但以理並沒讓他那時代的試探改變他與神的關係。他知道自己必須在所有事情上順服神，不管世界上最有權勢的君王命令如何，但以理拒絕妥協神的誡命。
世上沒有一件事不是出乎神的安排。為了某個特定的目的，祂準確地將你安置在現今的處境。你是否讓環境來決定你的一生？抑或願意讓神使用你來影響你的世代？讓那位召你歸向祂並且賜予聖靈保惠師的神，能夠藉著你行大事呢？
