《Gods covenant》
If God’s covenant were a “syntheke” made between two equal parties, all would be lost. Our role in maintaining the covenant relationship would be fully equal to His. But we are sinners who cannot keep covenant perfectly. A syntheke would mean no salvation. A “diatheke” is different. Because it is Gods sovereign administration with an unequal party, the onus for the fulfillment of the covenants promises is on the greater party—the Lord Himself. He swore by Himself to uphold the covenant (Gen. 15; Heb. 6:13-20). His honor is on the line, and if He fails, His glory suffers. But we know that God cannot fail, that He will not surrender His glory (Isa. 48:11). In the Lords diatheke, or covenant, He guarantees the fulfillment of His word for His names sake, which means the redemption of His people is secure.

如果上帝的盟約是兩個平等的政黨之間達成的共識syntheke，那麼所有的一切都會失去。因人們在維持盟約關係中的能力將完全等同於祂，但是我們是罪人，不能完美地守約。締約syntheke一字意味著沒有救贖；diatheke是不同的，因為這是上帝對一個不對等百姓的主權統治，所以履行盟約諾言的責任來自最高的神-耶和華自己。祂自己發誓要履行盟約（創世記15；來6：13-20）。祂的榮譽是永恆的，如果祂失敗了，祂的榮耀就會受到損害。但是我們知道，上帝不會失敗，祂不會損及自己的榮耀（賽48:11）。
賽48:11我為自己的緣故必行這事，我焉能使我的名被褻瀆？
出於主的聖言或聖約，祂保證為祂的名而實現祂的應許，這意味著對祂子民的救贖是信實可靠的。
