大衛的根

啟5:4因為沒有配展開、配觀看那書卷的，我就大哭。
5長老中有一位對我說：「不要哭！看哪，猶大支派中的獅子，大衛的根，他已得勝，能以展開那書卷，揭開那七印。」
其中一位長老指出配開書卷的人…基督，祂已得勝。祂是猶大支派中的獅子，這是創世記49 : 10雅各的預言。
10圭必不離猶大，杖必不離他兩腳之間，直等細羅（就是賜平安者）來到，萬民都必歸順。
當掃羅被廢棄，撒母耳膏立大衛為王時，上帝就已經開啟這個預言的實現。
大衛屬於猶大支派，基督也出於猶大支派，祂又是大衛的根。這呼應了先知以賽亞書6 : 13 ; 11 : 1的預言，上帝曾對大衛說過，祂必藉著大衛和他的後裔治理祂的國度(撒下7 : 12-16)。
賽6:13境內剩下的人若還有十分之一，也必被吞滅，像栗樹、橡樹雖被砍伐，樹ㄋㄧㄝˋ子{(4678) מַצֶּבֶתstump (of tree)}卻仍存留。這聖潔的種類在國中也是如此。
13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.(KJV)

13 If there is a tenth left in it, that also will in turn be consumed:
as a terebinth, and as an oak, whose stock remains when they are felled;
so the holy seed is its stock.”(WEB)
A tenth - A small remnant reserved, that number being put indefinitely. Return - Out of the Babylonish captivity, into their own land.
Eaten - That remnant shall be devoured a second time, by the kings of Syria, and afterwards by the Romans.
Yet - Yet there shall be another remnant, not such an one as that which came out of Babylon, but an holy seed, who shall afterwards look upon him whom they have pierced, and mourn over him.
When - Who when their leaves are cast in winter, have a substance within themselves腐葉, a vital principle, which preserves life in the root of the tree, and in due time sends it forth into all the branches.
The support - Of the land or people, which, were it not for the sake of these, should be finally rooted out.

賽11:1從耶西的本（原文作?與賽6:13同字，「樹頭；樹遭砍斷後，殘留有根的樹幹」）必發一條；從他根生的枝子必結果實。
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots：(KJV)
A shoot will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.(WEB)
The stem - Or, stump: for the word signifies properly a trunk cut off from the root. By which he clearly implies, that the Messiah should be born of the royal house of David, at that time when it was in a most forlorn condition, like a tree cut down, and whereof nothing is left but a stump or root under ground.
這條大衛後裔的線，從所羅門開始，往前看到將來一位獨特、永恆的君王。以賽亞看見並且預言了。但基督不是單純大衛肉身的後裔，如果是的話，那麼祂只是根上面的一個枝子，以賽亞不能說祂是「大衛的根」。但耶穌基督既是上帝的兒子，又是大衛的後裔，這樣的身分和資格讓祂高於大衛之上(太22:41-46 ;詩110 : 1 ;賽9:6)。
詩110:1耶和華對我主說：你坐在我的右邊，等我使你仇敵作你的腳凳。
太22:41法利賽人聚集的時候，耶穌問他們說：
42「論到基督，你們的意見如何？他是誰的子孫呢？」他們回答說：「是大衛的子孫。」43耶穌說：「這樣，大衛被聖靈感動，怎麼還稱他為主，說：44主對我主說：你坐在我的右邊，等我把你仇敵放在你的腳下。45
大衛既稱他為主，他怎麼又是大衛的子孫呢？」
※大衛是為了基督而存在，因此基督才是「大衛的根」。
賽9:6因有一嬰孩為我們而生；有一子賜給我們。政權必擔在他的肩頭上；他名稱為「奇妙策士、全能的神、永在的父、和平的君」。
