※The Mightiest Judge in the Land
In the days before there was a king in ancient Israel, the nation was led by a series of charismatic warrior chiefs known as “judges”. Samson is one of the most illustrious of these judges due to his superhuman strength, which allowed him to continually overpower the Philistines, the archenemies of Israel. The secret to Samson’s incredible strength was a vow his mother had made before his birth: he was forbidden to cut his hair.
在古代以色列沒有國王時期，這個國家由一系列有從上帝而來的能力、被稱為「士師」的戰士領袖領導。參孫是這些士師中最傑出的人之一，他有超人的力量，使他能夠不斷擊敗以色列的強敵非利士人。參孫不可思議的力量的秘密就是他母親在出生前所做的誓言：禁止剪參孫的頭髮。

Samson seemed totally undefeatable until a dangerous woman was sent by the Philistines to make him reveal his secret. Using her powers of seduction, Delilah coerced Samson into revealing “if my head were shaved, my strength would leave me” (Judges 16:17).
參孫似乎完全不可被打敗，非利士人派一個蛇蠍女人大利拉引誘他，利用她的誘惑力，要脅參孫揭露他有大能力的秘密。
17參孫就把心中所藏的都告訴了他，對他說：「向來人沒有用剃頭刀剃我的頭，因為我自出母胎就歸神作拿細耳人；若剃了我的頭髮，我的力氣就離開我，我便軟弱像別人一樣。」
Read in Hebrew, this story takes on a new perspective. Delilah’s name comes from the Hebrew word for “night” (lilah), forming the perfect counterpart to Samson (Shimson שמשון), which comes from the word for “sun” (shemesh שמש).
以希伯來文閱讀這個故事，呈現出一種全新的視角。Delilah的名字來源於希伯來語中的「夜」（lilah），與Samson（Shimson שמשון）形成完美對應，後者來自「sun」（shemeshשמש ）。
