Spurgeon was once criticized for putting too much laughter into his sermons. Frivolous. Lacking gravity. His reply to the woman who had button-holed him was classic: “My good lady, if you only knew how much I restrain myself.” This psalm shows us not only that “laughter” (Psalms 126:2) and God go together but also God and “joy” (Psalms 126:2-6). This psalm is written to help you discover the secret of joy.

Psalms 126:2-6
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” 3 The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.
4 Restore our fortunes, LORD, like streams in the Negev. 5 Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. 6 Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
2我們滿口喜笑、滿舌歡呼的時候，外邦中就有人說：耶和華為他們行了大事！3耶和華果然為我們行了大事，我們就歡喜。4耶和華啊，求你使我們被擄的人歸回，好像南地的河水復流。5流淚撒種的，必歡呼收割！ 6那帶種流淚出去的，必要歡歡樂樂地帶禾捆回來！
