※Who helped Joshua? 誰來幫助約書亞？
＊In the book of Joshua (5:13), there is a strange story that take place, before Joshua conquered Jericho.
約書亞記（5:13）中，在約書亞征服耶利哥之前，有一個奇怪的故事發生。
＊Joshua meets a man, who approaches him with a drawn sword and asks him, “Are you for us or for our enemies?”. The man presented himself as a commander of the army of the Lord, “Sar tzva adoni” (שַׂר-צְבָא-יְהוָה), so Joshua fell to his knees recognizing him as a messenger of God.

約書亞記 第5:13約書亞靠近耶利哥的時候，舉目觀看，不料，有一個人手裡有拔出來的刀，對面站立。約書亞到他那裡，問他說：「你是幫助我們呢，是幫助我們敵人呢？」
14他回答說：「不是的，我來是要作耶和華軍隊的元帥。」約書亞就俯伏在地下拜，說：「我主有什麼話吩咐僕人。」
14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?(KJV)
14 And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the LORD. Now I have come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?”(ESV)

※What is Adonai Tzevaot? 「耶和華的軍隊」指的是甚麼？
＊God is referred to as the “Lord of Hosts” Adonai Tzevaot (יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת) over 200 times in the Hebrew Bible. In the original Hebrew of the Bible, the word Tzevaot (Sabaoth) is the plural of tzava צבא meaning “army”. But the armies are not merely the Hebrew soldiers fighting earthly wars against enemy nations.
「耶和華的軍隊」在聖經裡出現超過200次。「軍隊」有時用單數(host)，有時用複數(hosts)。但這軍隊包含了屬地和屬天的軍隊，對抗屬地的敵人。

※Who exactly are the soldiers of this army?
＊The ancient Israelites conceived of God as the commander of various brigades of celestial soldiers: angels, stars, and the forces of nature that make up the universe.
古代以色列人認為上帝是天使、恆星和構成宇宙的自然力量，各種天兵大隊的指揮官。
＊When we can see the Hebrew connection between God’s name Adonai tzavaot and the words sar tzva we understand how the army of God is not just made up of human soldiers, but of divine beings who dominate the upper echelons of the universe.
當我們看到上帝的名字Adonai tzavaot和sar tzva這兩個詞之間的希伯來語並用時，我們就會明白上帝的軍隊不僅僅是由人類士兵組成，而且還包括由統治宇宙上層的神聖存在所組成。
