《What is Armageddon?》
哈米吉多頓；世界末日善惡決戰的戰場。
※According to the Book of Revelation, the future “battle on the great day of God the Almighty” will take place at Armageddon (Rev. 16:16).
啟示錄 16:16 那三個鬼魔便叫眾王聚集在一處，希伯來話叫作哈米吉多頓。

Har (הר) in Hebrew is a mountain, so the meaning of this phrase is: “Mountain of Meggido.” Meggido was an artificial hill (still in existence today) which Solomons northern cavalry騎兵used to guard the borders of his kingdom.

も那一帶已經發生過兩百多場戰役。米吉多頓平原和附近的埃斯德倫平原(plain of Esdraelon)將是大決戰的中心，一直延續整個以色列，最南到波斯拉的以東城（以賽亞書63：1）。哈米吉多頓山谷因在以色列歷史上兩次偉大的勝利而著名：
1）巴拉打敗迦南人（士師記4：15）和
2）基甸人征服米甸人（士師記7章）。
哈米吉多頓同時也是兩場悲劇發生之地：
1）掃羅及其子之死（撒母耳記上31：8）和
2）約西亞王之死（列王記下23：29-30；歷代志下35：22）。

＊＊歷來在這谷中所發生的主要戰事有：
(1) 底波拉和巴拉打敗夏瑣王耶賓將軍西西拉和他所統管的九百輛戰車，並且使西西拉和他的全軍「都倒在刀下，沒有留下一人」（士4:4-16）。
(2) 基甸用安營在哈律泉旁的三百人，打敗了安營在靠近摩利崗平原「多如海邊之沙」的米甸人和亞瑪力人（士6:1-7:25）。
(3) 掃羅在基利波山殉國之戰（撒上31:1-13）。
＊＊近代的戰爭則有：拿破崙在這谷地中打敗鄂圖曼的突厥軍，以及第一次世界大戰英國將軍阿蘭比在這谷中的戰果。
啟示錄所提未來哈米吉多頓（Har-megiddon）之戰（啟16:16），可能將發生位於谷地西南方的米吉多山（Mt. Megiddo）。

「哈米吉多頓」這個詞源于希伯來文的「har-magedone」，意思是「米吉多頓山」，已經成為聖經中預言的神將來介入和摧毀假基督之戰的象徵（啟示錄16：16；20：1-3，7-10）。將有大量的人參與哈米吉多頓決戰，因為那時各國都會集結起來反抗基督。
哈米吉多頓山谷的準確位置比較含糊，因為沒有叫米吉多頓的山。然而，「哈」(Har)也有山的意思，所以大概位置就是米吉多頓平原周圍的山地，耶路撒冷以北約60英里。
因為這段歷史，哈米吉多頓山谷成為神和邪惡力量之間最後爭戰的象徵。
哈米吉多頓這個詞僅出現在啟示錄16：16，「然後他們聚集在一處，希伯來話叫作哈米吉多頓。」它談到那些忠於假基督的王們集結在一起對以色列作最後的攻擊。在哈米吉多頓將傳遞「盛神烈怒的酒杯」（啟示錄16：19），假基督和他的隨從被徹底擊潰。
