有人因一些地方的用字，是希臘文的一般群眾，故斷言登山寶訓不是單對門徒的教訓。

世界並不需要一個超高標準的人生哲學，或特別的基督徒人生觀。世人所需要的ヾ乃是一個光，叫他們能認識自己的有限；ゝ乃是一個生命，可藉以脫離死亡；ゞ乃是一個救法，沒有一個罪人因遵守登山寶訓而能得救。
The world does not need a super high standard of life philosophy or a special Christian outlook on life at all. What the world needs is ヾa light that will enable them to see their own limitations. ゝA life that can be taken out from death.ゞA way of salvation. No sinner can be saved by obey the Sermon on the Mount.
登山寶訓乃是基督徒正確的生活。基督教不是傳基督的「教訓」給罪人，乃是「傳基督的生命給罪人」。這「他們」二字是指「門徒」說的，不是指「眾人」說的。
The Sermon on the Mount is the correct life of Christians. Christianity does not preach "Christs lesson" to sinners, but "proclaims Christs life to sinners". The word "they" refers to "disciples," not to "people."
