Ten Ways to Be Biblically Happy
The Hebrew Bible contains a surprising number of words for happiness.
What is often simply translated in English as “joy” can be one of ten Hebrew words that connotes a different shade of positive emotion.

Among these terms, one of the most powerful is the word sasson ששון, meaning “exultation”.

The Meaning of Happiness
The prophet Isaiah used the word sos שׂוֹשׂ in his famous prophecy of the deliverance of Zion, “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my whole being shall exult in my God” (Isa. 61:10).
賽61:10 我因耶和華大大歡喜；我的心靠神快樂。
(因他以拯救為衣給我穿上，以公義為袍給我披上，好像新郎戴上華冠，又像新婦佩戴妝飾。)
10 שׂ֧וֹשׂ אָשִׂ֣ישׂ בַּֽיהוָ֗ה תָּגֵ֤ל נַפְשִׁי֙ בֵּֽאלֹהַ֔י
שׂ֧וֹשׂ אָשִׂ֣ישׂ ；I will greatly(7797) rejoice(7797)

The words “greatly rejoice” in the original Hebrew are sos asis שׂוֹשׂ אָשִׂישׂ.
This is not just any old feeling of happiness. Isaiah specifically uses the special root SIS to connote a feeling of triumphant celebration following a catastrophe.
以賽亞不只是用以形容幸福的回憶，而且是指著在悽慘的災難後慶祝勝利的心情。
Isaiah reserved this special term for the ultimate happiness that will come with God’s deliverance. The simple English words “greatly rejoice” conceal the truth.
以賽亞用這個詞來形容神救贖的大喜樂，這是讀英文翻譯沒能體會到的。
