這首詩 footprints in the sand 意境很美, 描寫一個人 回首來時路

暮然回首 原來人生中最難困的路徑 , 留下上帝背著他走過的腳踨….

1957 諾貝爾文學獎的卡繆曾說:

不要走在我的前面, 我不一定能追随;

不要走在我的後面, 我不一定會帶領;

請走在我旁邊, 做我的朋友.

Footprints in the Sand沙灘上的足印

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.

有一晚我作了個夢 我與主沿著沙灘走

Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

我的人生際遇閃現天際

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
在每一幕中　我看見沙灘上有著足印

Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, 有時有兩雙　

other times there were one set of footprints. 有時只有一對

This bothered me because I noticed 這令我困惑不安
that during the low periods of my life, 在我人生最低潮

when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, 當我正為挫敗悲痛所苦

I could see only one set of footprints. 我只看見一雙足印

So I said to the Lord, 我問主：

“You promised me Lord,「主啊　你曾應許我

that if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
若我決志跟隨祢　祢將會與我同在

But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
但我發現在我人生最窘困的時候

there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.我在沙灘上只見一雙足印

Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?"
我不解　為何在我最需要祢時　祢放我一人獨行」

The Lord replied,主回應：

“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you."
「你所見的那雙足印　是我背著你行走的印記」
