119:1 Blessed are those whose way is blameless, Who walk in the law of the Lord! 2 Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, Who seek him with their whole heart, 5 Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes!
The poet is interested in truth and orthodox beliefs, and the Bible exhortation and theology. The poets passion for knowing God is practical, not theoretical. The purpose is not only to know God, but to respond to Gods revelation with faith and obedience, faith and worship, prayer and praise, dedication and service, and live out godliness in life.
Our lives must be revealed and lived out in the light of Gods Word. The ultimate goal is to know, serve, and enjoy the great God he wants to understand.
Without doctrinal knowledge, spiritual life is unhealthy; but it is also true that seeking knowledge for the wrong purpose and measuring it with wrong values will result in unhealthy spiritual life.
