※An Unusual Gesture
**In Exodus chapter 17, the children of Israel go to battle against the ferocious tribe of Amalek. Seeing that Israel cannot prevail by military might alone, Moses enlists the help of the Lord. He stands high up on a hill overlooking the battlefield. With the support of Aaron and Hur, he raises his arms up to heaven. So long as Moses’ hands are raised, Joshua prevails on the battlefield below.
在出埃及記第十七章中,以色列人與邪惡的亞瑪力人作戰。摩西看到以色列不能僅憑軍事力量取勝,因此尋求主的幫助。他高高地站在俯瞰戰場的小山上。在亞倫和戶珥的支持下,他向天舉起了手臂。只要摩西舉手,約書亞就會在下面的戰場上佔上風。
※Moses’ Faith
**Despite extreme fatigue, “the hands of Moses were steady until the sun set” (Exod. 17:12).
儘管極度疲勞,但「他的手就穩住,直到日落的時候。」(出17:12)。

were steady אֱמוּנָ֖ה (530) אֱמוּנָה אמנה אמוּנה ĕmûnâh ĕmûnâh em-oo-naw, em-oo-naw
Feminine of 529; literally firmness; figuratively security; moral fidelity
**In the original Hebrew the word for “steady” is emunah אֱמוּנָה. This comes from the root AMN אמן “faith” from which we get the word “amen”.在最初的希伯來語中,「穩定」一詞是emunah אֱמוּנָה。這源於AMN אמן
信仰的根源,從中我們得到了「阿門」一詞。

**It is only in Hebrew that we can understand that it was the faith in Moses’ heart, rather than the physical posture of his arms, which enabled Israel to prevail.
只有從希伯來語中,我們才能理解,是以色列對摩西的內心信念,而不是對他手臂的身體姿勢的信念。
※Foreshadowing the Messiah預表彌賽亞
**The striking image of Moses upon a hill with his arms extended outwards should remind us of another biblical scene of faith: Jesus on the Cross. Just as Moses raised his arms to help Joshua conquer Amalek, Jesus (whose Hebrew name was Yeshua or Joshua) lifted his arms to conquer sin. Witness the wonders that are revealed when you can read the Scriptures in Hebrew.
摩西在山上舉手的驚人影像使我們想起了另一個聖經信仰的場景:耶穌在十字架上。
正當摩西舉起手臂幫助約書亞征服亞瑪力人時,耶穌(希伯來語的名字是耶穌或約書亞)舉起手臂來征服罪惡(例如醫治眼瞎的人)。見證閱讀希伯來語聖經時發現的奇蹟。
