《Eliezer – behind the name》「以利以謝」表明是「活在神的引導中」。

※Abraham’s servant
*Before the miraculous birth of his son Isaac, Abram implores哀求God, “What can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” (Gen. 15:2).
2亞伯蘭說：「主耶和華啊，我既無子，你還賜我什麼呢？並且要承受我家業的是大馬色人以利以謝。」

*Eliezer was one of Abraham’s most loyal servants. He leads his life according to the principle that in times of need, he must rely on God for assistance. Remarkably, Eliezer’s name is perfectly fitting.
以利以謝是亞伯拉罕最忠誠的僕人之一。他在需要的時候，他必依靠上帝的引領而生活，與「Eliezer」這名字完全相符。

Eliezer: a deeper meaning
Eliezer (אליעזר) is comprised of two words: eli (אלי) meaning “my God” and ezer (עזר) meaning “helper”.

*In one of the Bible’s most memorable stories, Eliezer travels hundreds of miles to find a bride for Abraham’s son, Isaac.
-①-亞伯拉罕差派以利以謝：
創24:4你要往我本地本族去，為我的兒子以撒娶一個妻子。」
-②-到了目的地，以利以謝就向神祈求引導：
12他說：「耶和華我主人亞伯拉罕的神啊，求你施恩給我主人亞伯拉罕，使我今日遇見好機會。13我現今站在井旁，城內居民的女子們正出來打水。14我向哪一個女子說：『請你拿下水瓶來，給我水喝』，他若說：『請喝！我也給你的駱駝喝』，願那女子就作你所預定給你僕人以撒的妻。這樣，我便知道你施恩給我主人了。」15話還沒有說完，不料，利百加肩頭上扛著水瓶出來。
*Before choosing Rebecca as the bride, Eliezer prays, “I bowed down and worshiped the Lord. I praised the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me on the right road to get the granddaughter of my master’s brother for his son”. (Gen. 24:48)
-③-以利以謝仍然向神祈求引導：
48隨後我低頭向耶和華下拜，稱頌耶和華我主人亞伯拉罕的神；因為他引導我走合式的道路，使我得著我主人兄弟的孫女，給我主人的兒子為妻。
