An example from "New Testament in Jewish Background"

※An interpretation of ancient Jews.
*The number 14 is a clear example of a germatrian interpretation of the Jewish interpretation of assigning numbers to each Hebrew spelling.
For example, the first Hebrew letter Alef (א) has a numeric value of 1, the fourth character daret (ד) is a numeric value of 4, and the sixth character bob (ו) is a numeric value of 6.
Gematria shows the association between two words by calculating the numeric value of a particular word and then matching it with another word with exactly the same numerical value.
猶太人用希伯來文字母，代表數字，另用字母的排列造字。不同字的意義與代表的數字，與相同數目的字有相關的涵意，14就是一個明顯的例子。

*Since Davids Hebrew name (דוד) has a value of 14, Matthew created a genealogy centered on the number 14. Darth (ד) + Bob (ו) + Dalot (ד) or 4 + 6 + 4 is 14. Also, David is the 14th name listed in the genealogy.
*The emphasis on David here is very natural. Matthew used the number 14 to connect Jesus with King David, and in this way shows his lineage in a unique Jewish way.
