《The blessed raven 有福的烏鴉》

※A bird of darkness? 邪惡的鳥？
*The raven, orev (עֹרֵב) in biblical Hebrew, is not a loveable bird. It usually elicits feelings of fear because it is seen by many as a symbol of death. Its name is connected to the word erev (ערב), meaning “evening” in Hebrew.
聖經中希伯來語的烏鴉（עֹרֵב）並不是一隻可愛的鳥。牠通常會引起恐懼感，因為牠被許多人視為死亡的象徵。牠的名字與erev（ערב）一詞有關，在希伯來語中意為「晚上」。

*But in the Hebrew Bible the raven is something entirely different. It is the first bird mentioned in the entire Bible, in Genesis 8:7, when Noah sends a raven out of the ark to test whether the flood waters have receded.
但在希伯來聖經中，烏鴉的印象完全不是這樣。牠是整本聖經中提到的第一隻鳥，在創世記8：7，諾亞從方舟中派出一隻烏鴉來偵測洪水是否已經消退。

※A raven to the rescue
The most famous mention of the raven in the Bible is in the Book of Kings. God sends a catastrophic drought and famine to punish the people for their idolatry. But he saves one holy man, the prophet Elijah, instructing him to flee to the Cherith Valley.
聖經列王記中提到最著名的烏鴉。當上帝發出災難性的乾旱和飢荒來懲罰人們偶像崇拜時，上帝拯救了一位聖人，就是先知以利亞，指示他逃到約但河東邊的基立溪旁。

Here, Elijah is kept alive by ravens who “brought him bread and meat” twice a day (1 Kgs 17:6). Being highly intelligent birds, ravens could accomplish this task.
在列王記上17章裡，以利亞被烏鴉養活，牠們每天兩次「給他帶來麵包和肉」（王上17：6）。作為高度智慧的鳥類，烏鴉為主完成了這項任務。

*Although they are categorized as unclean animals in Leviticus 11:15, ravens were trustworthy friends to Elijah. In exchange, God is loyal to them, as Jesus reminds us, “Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them” (Luke 12:24).
雖然牠們在利未記11:15被歸類為不潔淨的動物，但烏鴉是以利亞的可靠朋友。從另一個角度看，上帝忠於牠們，正如耶穌提醒我們的那樣，
