創11
1那時，天下人的口音、言語都是一樣。
2他們往東邊遷移的時候，在示拿地遇見一片平原，就住在那裡。
3他們彼此商議說：「來吧！我們要做磚，把磚燒透了。」他們就拿磚當石頭，又拿石漆當灰泥。
4他們說：「來吧！我們要建造一座城和一座塔，塔頂通天，為要傳揚我們的名，免得我們分散在全地上。」
5耶和華降臨，要看看世人所建造的城和塔。
6耶和華說：「看哪，他們成為一樣的人民，都是一樣的言語，如今既做起這事來，以後他們所要做的事就沒有不成就的了。
7我們下去，在那裡變亂他們的口音，使他們的言語彼此不通。」
8於是耶和華使他們從那裡分散在全地上；他們就停工，不造那城了。
9因為耶和華在那裡變亂天下人的言語，使眾人分散在全地上，所以那城名叫巴別(就是變亂的意思)。
10閃的後代記在下面。洪水以後二年，閃一百歲生了亞法撒。
11閃生亞法撒之後又活了五百年，並且生兒養女。
12亞法撒活到三十五歲，生了沙拉。
13亞法撒生沙拉之後又活了四百零三年，並且生兒養女。
14沙拉活到三十歲，生了希伯。
15沙拉生希伯之後又活了四百零三年，並且生兒養女。
16希伯活到三十四歲，生了法勒。
17希伯生法勒之後又活了四百三十年，並且生兒養女。
18法勒活到三十歲，生了拉吳。
19法勒生拉吳之後又活了二百零九年，並且生兒養女。
20拉吳活到三十二歲，生了西鹿。
21拉吳生西鹿之後又活了二百零七年，並且生兒養女。
22西鹿活到三十歲，生了拿鶴。
23西鹿生拿鶴之後又活了二百年，並且生兒養女。
24拿鶴活到二十九歲，生了他拉。
25拿鶴生他拉之後又活了一百一十九年，並且生兒養女。
26他拉活到七十歲，生了亞伯蘭、拿鶴、哈蘭。
27他拉的後代記在下面。他拉生亞伯蘭、拿鶴、哈蘭；哈蘭生羅得。
28哈蘭死在他的本地迦勒底的吾珥，在他父親他拉之先。
29亞伯蘭、拿鶴各娶了妻：亞伯蘭的妻子名叫撒萊；拿鶴的妻子名叫密迦，是哈蘭的女兒；哈蘭是密迦和亦迦的父親。
30撒萊不生育，沒有孩子。
31他拉帶著他兒子亞伯蘭和他孫子哈蘭的兒子羅得，並他兒婦亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊，出了迦勒底的吾珥，要往迦南地去；他們走到哈蘭，就住在那裡。
32他拉共活了二百零五歲，就死在哈蘭。
Genesis 11
1 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech.
2 As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.
3 They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar.
4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building.
6 The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.
7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.
9 That is why it was called Babel -because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
10 This is the account of Shem’s family line. Two years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father of Arphaxad.
11 And after he became the father of Arphaxad, Shem lived 500 years and had other sons and daughters.
12 When Arphaxad had lived 35 years, he became the father of Shelah.
13 And after he became the father of Shelah, Arphaxad lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.
14 When Shelah had lived 30 years, he became the father of Eber.
15 And after he became the father of Eber, Shelah lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.
16 When Eber had lived 34 years, he became the father of Peleg.
17 And after he became the father of Peleg, Eber lived 430 years and had other sons and daughters.
18 When Peleg had lived 30 years, he became the father of Reu.
19 And after he became the father of Rev, Peleg lived 209 years and had other sons and daughters.
20 When Reu had lived 32 years, he became the father of Serug.
21 And after he became the father of Serug, Reu lived 207 years and had other sons daughters.
22 When Serug had lived 30 years, he became the father of Nahor.
23 And after he became the father of Nahor, Serug lived 200 years and had other sons and daughters.
24 When Nahor had lived 29 years, he became the father of Jerah.
25 And after he became the father of Terah, Nahor lived 119 years and had other sons and daughters.
26 After Jerah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.
27 This is the account of Terah’s family line. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.
28 While his father Jerah was still alive, Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans, in the land of his birth.
29 Abram and Nahor both married. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milkah; she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milkah and Iskah.
30 Now Sarai was childless because she was not able to conceive.
31 Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Harran, they settled there.
32 Terah lived 205 years, and he died in Harran.
創12
1耶和華對亞伯蘭說：「你要離開本地、本族、父家，往我所要指示你的地去。
2我必叫你成為大國。我必賜福給你，叫你的名為大；你也要叫別人得福。
3為你祝福的，我必賜福與他；那咒詛你的，我必咒詛他。地上的萬族都要因你得福。」
4亞伯蘭就照著耶和華的吩咐去了；羅得也和他同去。亞伯蘭出哈蘭的時候年七十五歲。
5亞伯蘭將他妻子撒萊和姪兒羅得，連他們在哈蘭所積蓄的財物、所得的人口，都帶往迦南地去。他們就到了迦南地。
6亞伯蘭經過那地，到了示劍地方、摩利橡樹那裡。那時迦南人住在那地。
7耶和華向亞伯蘭顯現，說：「我要把這地賜給你的後裔。」亞伯蘭就在那裡為向他顯現的耶和華築了一座壇。
8從那裡他又遷到伯特利東邊的山，支搭帳棚；西邊是伯特利，東邊是艾。他在那裡又為耶和華築了一座壇，求告耶和華的名。
9後來亞伯蘭又漸漸遷往南地去。
10那地遭遇饑荒。因饑荒甚大，亞伯蘭就下埃及去，要在那裡暫居。
11將近埃及，就對他妻子撒萊說：「我知道你是容貌俊美的婦人。
12埃及人看見你必說：『這是他的妻子』，他們就要殺我，卻叫你存活。
13求你說，你是我的妹子，使我因你得平安，我的命也因你存活。」
14及至亞伯蘭到了埃及，埃及人看見那婦人極其美貌。
15法老的臣宰看見了他，就在法老面前誇獎他。那婦人就被帶進法老的宮去。
16法老因這婦人就厚待亞伯蘭，亞伯蘭得了許多牛、羊、駱駝、公驢、母驢、僕婢。
17耶和華因亞伯蘭妻子撒萊的緣故，降大災與法老和他的全家。
18法老就召了亞伯蘭來，說：「你這向我做的是什麼事呢？為什麼沒有告訴我他是你的妻子？
19為什麼說他是你的妹子，以致我把他取來要作我的妻子？現在你的妻子在這裡，可以帶他走吧。」
20於是法老吩咐人將亞伯蘭和他妻子，並他所有的都送走了。
Genesis 12
1 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.
5 He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.
6 Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land.
7 The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.
8 From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.
9 Then Abram set out and continued toward the Negev.
10 Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe.
11 As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “I know what a beautiful woman you are.
12 When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me but will let you live.
13 Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you.”
14 When Abram came to Egypt, the Egyptians saw that Sarai was a very beautiful woman.
15 And when Pharaoh’s officials saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh, and she was taken into his palace.
16 He treated Abram well for her sake, and Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, male and female servants, and camels.
17 But the Lord inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram’s wife Sarai.
18 So Pharaoh summoned Abram. “What have you done to me?” he said. “Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife?
19 Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her to be my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!”
20 Then Pharaoh gave orders about Abram to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and everything he had.
