慈愛的天父

詩篇 第103章

這篇詩雖然經常公開在教會誦讀，可是，它卻是一篇非常個人化的詩篇。它一開始便說：「我的心哪，你要稱頌耶和華！」詩人鼓勵我們要發乎內心和滿懷感恩地去稱頌神，因為神個別施恩給我們每個人，我們要親自向神表達我們的感恩和讚美。

神究竟為我們做了些甚麼呢？(8-12節)首先，祂赦免我們的一切罪孽。我們若撫心自問，也會發覺自己不容易寬恕別人；然而，當我們還是罪人的時候，神卻願意赦免我們的罪。我最初以罪人的身分來到神的面前，祂白白地赦免了我；但如今，我仍會犯罪跌倒，我只能夠像一個做錯事的小孩子那樣，來到慈愛的天父面前，尋求祂的饒恕，而祂又再次願意白白地赦免我。神的慈愛實在是太豐厚了，是嗎？

我們的天父不會保留任何好處不給祂的兒女(13至14節)，問題只是：它真是對兒女好嗎？詩人明言，神的慈愛遠高過諸天，世上任何一位父親都望塵莫及。天父深知我們的軟弱和需要，祂必定比我們的生父更能無微不至地看顧我們。

此外，我們的天父更是信實守約的(15-18節)。世人的年日如草一樣，今天還在，明天卻歸於無有。有些時候，我們的朋友即使很想兌現承諾，可惜卻礙於種種原因而有心無力。但我們的天父卻不會這樣；祂言出必行，必能兌現祂給我們的應許。歷史已一再證明祂是信實守約的神，而且，祂是永不改變的，祂不能背乎自己。

為此，我們豈不應該親自來到祂的面前，為到祂給我們的一切好處和施予我們的慈愛，向祂發出由衷的頌讚及感謝嗎？請記著腓立比書四章6節的教導：「只要凡事藉著禱告、祈求和感謝，將你們所要的告訴神。」我們要學會向神多說「謝謝」；當我們知道自己原來能因此得益，天父也因而喜悅的話，我們可能會深感驚訝！

OUR WONDERFUL FATHER
BIBLE READING: Psalm 103

This is very personal Psalm, even though it is often read in our church services. How does it start? ‘Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me’. ‘Bless’ means to praise with love and thankfulness. The Psalmist says, do this yourself. Don’t leave it to others. God has done so much for you personally. Tell him yourself how grateful you are.

What are some of the things God has done? (vv. 8-12). What does this Psalm say? He has forgiven us. That is something which is not easy for us to do, is it? We sometimes find it very difficult to forgive other people. But God does it all the time for us. I came the first time to God as a sinner and he forgave my sins. I still fail and sin. But now I come as a child to my loving Father and he still forgives me. Isn’t that wonderful?

There is nothing our Father would not do for his child (vv. 13-14). The only question is this: Is it good for the child? The Psalm says that God is even kinder than any human father could ever be. He knows our weakness and our need. Try and think of all that a human father would do for his child. Remember our loving heavenly Father goes far beyond all that!

Now think of our Father’s faithfulness (vv. 15-18). Man is like grass, here today and gone tomorrow. Our best friend may not be able to fulfill his promise to us, however much he may wish to do so. God our Father can and does. He has proved it over and over. He is always the same. He cannot fail.

Don’t you think then that we ought to praise him and thank him personally for all he has done and for his love for us? Remember the words of Philippians 4:6, ‘In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God’. Try saying thank you to God. You may be surprised how much it will do for you as well as being a joy to your heavenly Father.
