19-29節--但以理為王解夢

但以理書 第2章

當我們的禱告蒙神的應允，我們是否記得感謝祂呢？我們經常將一項接一項的需要，像「購物清單」般地交給神，到神為我們成就了某些事情之後，我們卻只會敷衍地說一句謝謝。其實，我們向神的感謝，應該像向神祈求的心態一樣，要誠懇、具體而逼切。

但以理為我們立了一個美好的榜樣。當神應允他的祈求，將王的夢和夢的解釋，在異象中向他顯明，他便即時為到神所彰顯的大能而衷心謝恩(20至23節)。

當但以理來到王的面前，為王解夢，他便首先向王稱讚神的智慧和權能。巴比倫是一個信奉異教的國家，巴比倫王也掌握了人的生死大權；然而，但以理卻毫不畏懼地宣稱他所信的，是一位擁有最高權能的神，他說：「只有一位天上的神，能顯明奧祕的事」(28節)。接著，他才向王講述夢和夢的解釋。

這個奇怪的異象，向尼布甲尼撒王啟示了數百年後所發生的事。神真的可以預知未來嗎？只因這位至高的真神，打從世界一開始便預知了它的終結，祂是掌管歷史的神。這位永恆不變的神，今天同樣掌管著你和我的未來，祂必親自引導我們走前面的路。

尼布甲尼撒在夢中見到的像，基本上是預示了世界列強在歷史中的轉替。強國一個接一個地興起，但至終卻會沒落和瓦解，直至耶穌基督在地上永遠作王(44節)。

因此，按著神的旨意，萬物都要向祂兒子基督跪拜的應許，便在基督再來的時候得著成就。我們還要等多久呢？我們不知道確實的答案，不過，彼得提醒我們說：「親愛的弟兄啊，你們既盼望這些事，就當殷勤，使自己沒有玷污，無可指摘，安然見主」(彼後三14)。

我們應該以這種心態來過每天的生活。每天都假定耶穌基督今天將會回來，所以要努力為主而活；但同時卻要殷勤事主，希望贏取更多的人進入神的國度。你期望耶穌就在今天再來嗎？你是否已作好準備去迎見祂呢？

DANIEL AND THE KINGS DREAM

How often do we remember to thank God for answering our prayers? We tend to give God our shopping list then neglect to thank Him except in very general terms for what He has already done for us. We need to be as specific in our thanks as we are in asking.

Daniel was an exception. His first action when God had revealed both the kings forgotten dream and its interpretation was to thank God for this remarkable display of his power (verses 20-23).

Notice Daniels description of Gods wisdom and powers when he was standing before Nebuchadnezzar. In a heathen court where the king had the power of life and death, Daniel was not afraid to speak of the greater power of his God. There is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, he said (v.28). Then he proceeded to outline both the dream and its interpretation.

This strange vision given to Nebuchadnezzar revealed the future for hundreds of years to come. How was this possible? Simply because God knows the end from the beginning and He is still the same today. He knows our future and can guide us accordingly.

Basically the image Nebuchadnezzar saw in his dream was a prophetic picture of successive, future world empires. Each of them would rise, then fail and crash until finally Jesus Christ takes over the ruler ship of the world (v.44).

That event, the second coming of Christ, is the next step in Gods plan to bring about the fulfilment of His promise to His Son that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow. How soon will that be? We do not know but Peter reminds us (2 Peter 3:14) So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

That should be our daily attitude. We need to live as if Jesus was coming today yet work as if He were not coming for another generation. Are you expecting Jesus to come today? Are you ready to meet him?
